Ghosts are one of the world's most popular mythological figures. The exact definitions can vary, but most people agree that a ghost is a spirit or form of energy that walks the earth after the body has passed away.
People all over the world have reported seeing ghosts, particularly in old houses, mansions and cemeteries.
Ghost myths are so popular that they've inspired thousands of books, movies, comics, video games and TV shows. Casper the Friendly Ghost is a popular cartoon character that was introduced to audiences in the 1940s. Other examples include "Monster House" and the Ghostbusters film series.

Since ghosts can be anyone and do just about anything, you can come up with hundreds of stories for your cartoon ghost.
This guide teaches you how to draw a ghost at home. All you need is your drawing tools and a few sheets of paper in case you make a mistake and have to start over.
You can color your ghost whatever color you want, but most ghosts are black-and-white. However, that doesn't mean you have to leave the page white. Different shades of grey add depth to the picture and make your ghost leap off the page.
Follow these steps to make your very own ghost at home.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Ghost
How to Draw a Great Looking Ghost for Kids, Beginners, and Adults - Step 1
1. Start with two curved dashes like small hills. Draw large ovals on top, then add another curve to each of the ovals to give the shapes more depth.

2. Draw a half-circle underneath the eyes, then sketch a curve underneath to form the mouth. Use small curved lines to add details around the face.

3. Start on the right and make a curved line, then continue upward until you reach the top of the head. Make a rounded line like the top of a dome. Add a hook, then draw a semi-parallel line underneath to create a long shape like a swirl of ice cream.

4. Repeat the first from 3 to draw the other side of the head. On the right, draw another curve followed by a squiggly line.

5. Make a hot dog shape for the thumb. For the fingers, draw three small ovals, making sure that they overlap. Use lines to connect the shapes and form the hand.

6. Sketch lines inside the hand to add creases to the palm. On the right, draw another squiggly line. Make another loose oval shape, and attach it to the head with a curve.

7. Use more thick ovals for the fingers. Make sure that they overlap to give them depth. Draw a curve to complete the palm.

8. Sketch a sweeping curve for the chest, then draw another curve that swoops outward. Draw the line upward into a point and sweep it down again. Add a short line at the middle of the body.

9. Complete the body with a single line that swirls and has jagged edges. Make sure the body ends in a point at the bottom.
Color Your Ghost Drawing
Outline your drawing with a black pen or marker, then erase all the extra pencil lines.
You've now drawn a cartoon ghost! Since ghosts are traditionally white, you'll need different shades of grey to color your drawing.
Use a darker shade of grey for the shadows. For the eyes and mouth, use black or dark grey.
